Getting your application together ahead of time is the easiest way to keep things moving. The exact documents we ask for depend on your business type and industry, but every merchant starts with the same basics.
The basics
Before you apply, make sure you can check these boxes:
Your business operates in the US. We work with businesses based and run within the United States. You’ll need to provide a US home address for the business owner, and we may ask you to verify that you’re living in and running your business from within the US.
Your credit isn’t frozen. After you apply, we run a soft credit pull. A soft pull won’t affect your credit score, but it can’t go through if your credit is frozen. If you’ve placed a freeze, temporarily lift it with the credit bureaus before submitting your application to avoid delays.
You have your business details handy. This includes your legal business name, EIN, business address, website (if you sell online), and an idea of your expected monthly processing volume.
Core documents
Once you complete your application, you’ll be directed to our documents page to upload what we need. Commonly requested documents include:
A valid government-issued photo ID
A voided check or bank letter for the account where you’ll receive deposits
Recent business bank statements
Recent processing statements, if you’ve accepted cards before
Industry-specific documents
Depending on what you sell, we may ask for a few extra items. For example, firearms dealers may need to provide their FFL, nonprofits may need their 501(c)(3) determination letter, CBD may require COAs and other industries may need licenses or permits specific to their field. If anything else is needed for your business, our team will reach out and let you know.
Tips for a smoother review
Upload everything at once. Missing documents are the most common reason applications get held up.
Make sure documents are clear and current. Blurry photos or expired IDs will need to be resubmitted.
Keep your info consistent. Your business name and address should match across your application, bank account, and documents.
